Amenda Sehgal
Business Development Manager

Amenda joined Accent in late 2021 as a Business Development Manager. She says the people at Accent are so kind and welcoming that she immediately felt part of the team. After spending 15 years as an accountant, Amenda realized she needed a change where she could capitalize on her relationship building skills. She moved into a sales role with a food distributor and is proud of what she was able to accomplish with them. “Once I was able to get a small order, I wanted to sell a pallet. Then a container.” she said. “I was always trying to broker a new and bigger deal that would bring value and success to the company.” She is looking forward to helping Accent grow its business further.

Amenda is a CMA and obtained her B. Comm in Accounting from Concordia University.

What’s your favourite book and/or movie and why?
The Notebook – I’m a sucker for a good romance.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I love home renovations. I don’t execute the work, but I have a clear vision that I’m able to communicate to my contractor and it’s a joy to see it come to life.

If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be and why?
Personally, I strive to live a healthy life and do my part for the world. However, I would like to become an expert in sustainability so I could contribute in a more meaningful way to the preservation of the planet and making it greener.

What was the single-most influential event of your lifetime?
I worked for several years for Creations Amenda, a family business that started the day I was born. I began working there at 11 and by 18, I was managing my own store. It was great to have the opportunity to see how a small company runs and be so involved, especially at such an early age.

What was the most interesting or unusual job you’ve ever had?
As I mentioned, working for my family’s business in such a hands-on, senior role, was extremely interesting and a huge learning opportunity.  I had to do everything – hire staff, coordinate payroll, and run the store.

Where would you travel to if you could go anywhere in the world?
I would love to go to Mauritius. I think it would be the place to go for a dream vacation that would allow me to relax and reset in comfort and luxury.

What’s your go-to Karaoke song?
I don’t sing that much (except in the shower) but I would choose “I will always love you” by Whitney Houston.
